The trail is more attractive than Naromoru and is situated on the dry side of the Mount Kenya, which offers the finest trekking. This 3-day Mount Kenya ascent via the Sirimon route involves hiking through a forest and ascending a broad ridge to the summit region. The route begins at the northwest aspect of the mountain next to Nanyuki. Access is sufficient, and the hut accommodations are the finest on this side of the mountain.

A Detailed 3 Days Mount Kenya Climbing Sirimon Route Itinerary

Distance: 53 kilometers | Difficulty: Moderate | Start/Finish: Nairobi

Day 1: Nairobi to Sirimon gate to Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 

Durations: 3-4 hours, 

Distance: 9 kilometers, 860 meters ascent

Leave Nairobi at 8 a.m. and travel for approximately 4 hours to Nanyuki town for lunch with a competent and experienced Mount Kenya guide from Rwenzori Trekking Expeditions. Advance to Sirimon Gate, for 1 hour, a distance of 2440 meters. Proceed from the gate along the path as it ascends through the forest, transitioning to heathland after around three hours. Approximately 3½ hours from the entrance, the trail diverges right towards Judmier Camp, situated at 3300m for supper and overnight accommodation, including lunch and dinner.

Day 2: Judmier Camp to Shipton Camp,

Duration: 6-7 hours, 
Distance: 14km, 900m elevation gain.

Post-breakfast, ascend the path, veering left at the crosswalk. One hour from Old Moses Camp, the trail traverses the Ontulili River.

3 days Mount Kenya Climbing Sirimon route to Point Lenana

Proceed along the right contour across the Moorland, crossing Liki North, and ascend towards Mackinders Valley, which offers panoramic vistas of the main peaks up the valley. Dinner and overnight stay at Shipton Camp, 4200m,

Day 3: Trek from Shipton Camp to Point Lenana and then to Judmaier Camp (Old Moses Camp),

Duration: 9-10 hours

Distance:  21km to Nairobi.

Set out at 3 a.m. and ascend a steep, stony quarry that passes through a visible portion of a cliff clearing in the direction of lower Hall Tarns, arriving at Lenana about 6:30 a.m. It will take roughly three hours. After the sun rises, go down to Shipton Camp for breakfast, which will take two hours, and then go down for four hours to Old Moses Camp for lunch. From this location, you will access the route to Nairobi.
