5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking Safari
Day 1, Rwigho Camp (2650m)
Following breakfast on day 1 of the 5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking, embark on a one-hour drive from Kasese town to Okorukumi, then commence your climb to reach Rwenzori Mountains National Park / Kasanzi Gate for registration at the Park Ranger outpost. Proceed along the trail that curves westward along the ridge, providing a view of the Kasuka and Isule valleys, and continue to EKebitakuli for a warm lunch while resting. Subsequently, traverse the montane rainforest that overlooks the bamboo-forested lowlands. Observe plant species such as Disa stairssi, Scadoxus cyrtanthiflorus, and Impatiens apiculata, as well as the sounds of black and white colobus monkeys, the Rwenzori Turaco, and various other avian species.
During the 5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking adventure, you will observe chimpanzee nests and faeces, or hear their screams. Day 2, Kambeho Camp (3700m) -5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking
Following breakfast, the path traverses among heather trees (Ericathiasis) adorned with abundant moss. This is the heather zone, characterized by numerous heather trees, scenic trees, alchemilla, blackberries, and various other plant species. During the path, you may observe black and white Colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, sunbirds, and the rare and exquisite Rwenzori turaco within the park. On this day, you will observe several huge lobelias, everlasting flowers, and rock shelters. Overnight stay in Kambeho Camp. This hike will require 5 to 6 hours, including a break for a delicious lunch at Mitiyighaghire.
Day 3,Mughuli Camp (3877m)- 5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking
Following breakfast, commence the ascent alongside the Lhume River during the early morning hours, when energy and motivation to tackle the steep Mughuli bypass are at their peak. Consider descending to Lake Mughuli, which is inside MTN network coverage, allowing you to communicate with friends and family about the beauty and experiences encountered along the way. Several short peaks are readily accessible for climbing, dependent upon your arrival time at the camp and your physical condition. The vegetation near the lake is very captivating. Wildlife observable along the trail includes the Rwenzori red-duiker, rock and tree hyraxes, and wild boars. At the campsite, one can embark on a self-guided tour to investigate the waterfalls. Day 4, Mughuli Camp – Lake Bukurungu Camp (4291m):
This camp is situated between the Portal Peaks and Mount Gessi, serving as a tranquil location for acclimatization for climbers targeting these peaks. Five hours from Mughuli camp takes you through a fairly pleasant bridge passing the vegetation of the alchemila, various enormous lobelia species and the beautiful unknown leaf looking like a human palm. The journey from Mughuli Camp to Bukurungu Camp will require 6 to 7 hours, including a halt for a sumptuous lunch at Kinyamiyeye. On this day, assuming the weather is clear, your eyes and hands on the camera will capture all the prominent peaks: Edward on Mount Baker, Margherita and Alexandra on Mount Stanley, Vittorio Emanuela on Mount Speke, Kihuma on the Portal Peaks, and Mount Gessi.
Choices available on day 5 of the 5 Day Rwenzori Bukurungu Trail Trekking
This serves as a focal point for clients to select the type of extension for the trip based on their abilities, interests, and itinerary. The various alternatives are:

From this camp, you may choose to ascend the Portal Peaks on the fifth day and return to Bukurungu Camp for an overnight break. On the sixth day, you will descend to Mahoma Lake for one night and thereafter traverse the Mahoma trail the following morning. You will traverse the same path as the mountain elephant, which appears uncommon. This will require six nights and seven days. If one is robust and want to keep pace with the program, he may emerge on the sixth day via Nyabitaba, resulting in five nights and six days.

On your fifth day, you may ascend Mount Gessi, commencing from West Bukurungu Lake and returning to Bukurung East Lake post-ascent. On the sixth day, exit via Nyabitaba.
